Emma Cornwell

Two disciplines. One person.

I'm a physician assistant and an off-road racing champion, and neither one is the side project.

Where it started

Both of my parents were self-employed entrepreneurs. My father raced off-road through the 1970s and 80s, later worked as a yacht broker, and still later volunteered as a SCORE tech director. I grew up tinkering in the garage, helping build our backyard pool, watching NASCAR, and hearing stories about the good old racing days. My mother was an interior designer — I spent countless days with her in showrooms across Southern California, watching her sketch floor plans by hand, sit with clients, and page through design magazines, with plenty of stops at our favorites, Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's. Both worlds shaped my appreciation for the hustle, determination, and grit it takes to finish a race or pull off a design concept — though anyone in design will tell you a project's never really "finished." That upbringing shaped how I approach everything — medicine included.

The clinical side

One of my first exposures to medicine was being hospitalized for pneumonia and a collapsed lung, and I was later diagnosed with petit mal seizure disorder. As a teenager I sat through more doctors' appointments than I can count, alongside my parents and grandparents. In my twenties I worked as a patient care coordinator at a med spa, then as a scribe for both a vascular/general surgeon and a breast oncology surgeon. My clinical rotations during PA school spanned family medicine, emergency medicine, orthopedic surgery, behavioral health, hepatology, and primary care before I moved into aesthetics. That range is exactly why my approach to skin and injectables is conservative and clinically grounded, not trend-driven.

On the course

I navigate for RISQ Racing in SCORE International's UTV Pro Stock class, running the full calendar — Baja 500, Baja 400, Baja 1000, and more. It's the same precision and composure under pressure that shows up in the treatment room.
